General José de San Martín

The Liberator of Argentina, Chile, and Perú.

José Francisco de San Martín y Matorras (25 February 1778 – 17 August 1850), known simply as José de San Martín, he was the Liberator of Argentina, Chile and Perú. He lived in the United Kingdom in two period of his life: before and and after his military campaigns in the Americas.

 

Together with Simón Bolivar (1783 – 1830) , San Martín was one of the main leaders of the successful struggle for independence in southern and central South America against the Spanish Empire.
